Rivers flow along in a continuous stream of movement; day follows night as night follows day; trees allow their roots to spread out into the earth in order that they can grow up strong and well supported.

Flowing is this state of continuous movement, of being fluid, and being flexible. Flowing connects us to the flow of our individual energy. We are connected to the earth and in harmony with her rhythms, cycles, moods and seasons. In flowing there are no separations or distinctions between things, there is only continuous change, continuous movement. The movements are rounded and fluid, curves and circles with no definable beginnings or ends. Our feet are firmly rooted on the ground where we find our support to be ourselves. It is the rhythm where we feel grounded and earthed.

Flowing is very much the rhythms of babies; they eat, sleep, laugh and cry. It is the rhythm where they get used to being in their bodies. It is the same for us adults. We tune into the flow of our energy each day, we tune into our instincts knowing when we are tired, hungry, happy, sad, bored or lonely.

Unfortunately many of us have become alienated from our instincts; we have lost the ability to be aware of our needs or the ability to pay attention. We can be completely out of touch with ourselves and unable to truly pay attention to anyone else. Because our bodies reflect the state of our minds when we feel worthless our chests sink in and our heads hang down. The body never lies.

In flowing we learn how to inhale, how to take in: compliments, put-downs, gifts, intuitive hunches, space, and music .We learn how to "go with the flow" and not build our lives around resisting or wishing it were different. It is an energy field in which the feminine aspect of us is revealed. The shadow side of flowing is apathy, inertia and at its darkest, depression.
